2011 New York Trip-Day 3 - 07/22/2011 / 14:50 / 74348
Stopped at the Museum of the Rockies (run by its next door neighbor, the Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana. When I went in, I was looking through the visitor/tourist brochures and saw one for the American Computer Museum. When I saw that it was less than a mile away and closed at 4:00, I hit the road and went to check it out. It was great. A woman gave me a quick tour and then left me to wander around. It was very small, but was great fun – and free. It brought back a lot of memories – they had an IBM keypunch machine. I impressed the woman who showed me around when I told her how when I was taking a programming class in college, I learned to cut my own card holes with a pocket knife and cover up others with tape to correct errors when I could not get to a machine to re-punch a card. I had a really great time talking to the woman about old computer stuff.
Left at 5:15
Then, I went back to the Museum of the Rockies. It was good – but nothing to get overly excited about.
