All is right with the world. I found a blog regarding Nuvi760 problems – one of which was the same as mine. It seems if you hold the slide switch to the ‘on’ position for 8 seconds, it does some kind of master reset. I raced down to the car (well, I walked kind of quickly) – and IT WORKED. I was checking on Amazon and saw that the new Garmins are still pretty pricey - - - although still way less than the $600+ I paid for mine. I am so glad I got it working before I started writing down map directions and before I ordered a new one.
Whew!
